After a volunteer-led process, the Richard G. Snyder YMCA in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, announced Michael Steiner as its new CEO, effective starting November 3.

Most recently, Steiner served as executive director of BEST Robotics, one of the nation’s most innovative experiential STEM education programs.

In a statement on social media, YMCA of the USA said they supported the Executive Transition Committee and Board of Directors throughout the search, in partnership with Ken Soliday and the Pennsylvania State Alliance of YMCAs.

“Michael is a human-centered builder who pairs empathy with execution,” a YMCA of the USA spokesperson said. “He has led operating portfolios exceeding $20 million and helped deliver a $100 million international university partnership. He stabilized an organization that was $500,000 in the red, rebuilt for resilience and grew governance from five board members to 12 to 15 engaged leaders. His stewardship turned a single family’s philanthropy from $60,000 to $4.5 million, contributing to $10 million over a decade for mission growth.”
