Apachi Day Camp of JCC Chicago renews its American Camp Association accreditation.
For children, summer is the most anticipated time of year. The warm weather signals school is out and camp is starting soon. As for parents, they want to be certain the day camp they choose for their child is high-quality, well-run and meets the highest standards for safety and care.
To know which camps these are, parents seek out camps accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). For a camp to receive ACA accreditation, all operations from staff qualifications to health, safety and risk management procedures must undergo a detailed review to ensure compliancy of up to 300 industry-accepted and government recognized standards.
The ACA is the only nationwide organization that evaluates camp operations. In collaboration with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies, the ACA ensures the current practices at a child’s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
For an example of an ACA accredited day camp, look no further than the Apachi Day Camp of JCC Chicago.
Apachi Day Camp has a long history of ACA accreditation and is widely recognized as ensuring the best care and keeping of its camp community. Both ‘Z’ Frank Apachi in Northbrook and Elaine Frank Apachi in Lake Zurich have been accredited for 25 and 13 years respectively. Apachi Rogers Park also underwent review for the first time this summer and is now ACA accredited as well.
“We are tremendously proud at ‘Z’ Frank Apachi to have renewed our ACA certification last summer,” said Stacey Skolnick, Director of ‘Z’ Frank Apachi Day Camp in a statement. “During the challenges of COVID-19, ACA provided tremendous support for day camps. We had countless sessions with leading healthcare professionals, who guided our decisions as we planned for camp.”
With ACA accredited camps, parents and guardians have confidence the program is accountable, credible and committed to a child’s well-being. At Apachi Day Camp, camper care is the highest priority and enables every camper to feel fully supported as individuals in navigating relationships and forming friendships, gaining independence and building confidence, and finding joy in each day at camp.
