The Bath Area Family YMCA is pleased to announce Amy Vendt has been appointed CEO of the association, moving from her interim role into the permanent position. The decision was unanimously approved by the Executive Committee of the Bath Area YMCA Board of Directors earlier this month.
Vendt stepped into the interim CEO role on July 14 following the departure of former CEO Rob Gray, who accepted a position leading the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Huntsville, Alabama. Since that time, Vendt has provided steady, mission-driven leadership and continued the organization’s momentum during a period of transition and growth.
“Amy has demonstrated exceptional leadership, clarity of vision, and a deep commitment to our mission throughout her time as Interim CEO,” said Peter Owen, president of the Bath Area YMCA Board of Directors, in a press release. “As we celebrate an important milestone year for our association, the Board is confident in Amy’s ability to honor our legacy while guiding the Y forward. We are proud to confirm her as our permanent CEO.”

This year marks the 170th anniversary of the Bath Area Family YMCA, one of the oldest YMCA associations in the country. The association will celebrate this historic milestone with a community-wide anniversary celebration planned for June.
“It is an incredible honor to lead the Bath Area Family YMCA during such a meaningful year,” said Vendt. “This association has a rich, 170-year history of serving the Bath community, and I’m excited to celebrate that legacy while working with our staff, volunteers and partners to chart a thoughtful, bold course for the future. The Y has always been about meeting community needs, and I’m inspired by the opportunity to continue that work.”
Vendt brings more than 30 years of experience within the YMCA movement, with a career rooted in empowering people, strengthening communities, and building purpose-driven organizations. She previously served as COO of the Bath Area Family YMCA for two years, where she played a key role in developing strategic community partnerships, leading transformative capital projects, and strengthening organizational culture through a focus on diversity, inclusion and belonging. Prior to joining the Bath Y, Vendt served as Executive Director of the YMCA in Central Maryland, overseeing a branch serving more than 9,000 members.
