YMCA of Silicon Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of John T. Ehrbar as its next president and CEO, effective January 26, 2026.

Ehrbar brings more than two decades of nonprofit leadership experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of YMCA Buffalo Niagara, where he led the organization for six years, guiding community engagement, program growth, and strategic impact across Western New York.

Under Ehrbar’s leadership in Buffalo, the association strengthened its commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — core principles of the YMCA movement. His work included collaboration with community partners, expanding program initiatives, and advocating for inclusive services that meet the needs of families, seniors and young people.

“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to lead the YMCA of Silicon Valley and build on its strong legacy of supporting youth and uplifting community well-being,” said Ehrbar in a press release. “I look forward to working alongside our volunteers, staff, and partners to identify unmet needs and create meaningful solutions to strengthen our local communities.”

Before his tenure in Buffalo, Ehrbar held senior leadership roles within the YMCA movement, contributing to organizational strategy, operational excellence and community partnerships. He holds advanced degrees in education and strategic leadership, reflecting a deep commitment to nonprofit service and community development.

“We’re thrilled to welcome John Ehrbar as our new CEO,” said Gaurav Vijayvargiya, the chair, YMCA of Silicon Valley Board of Directors. “His proven leadership, passion for mission-driven work, and vision for organizational growth position him to lead us into an exciting new chapter.”

Ehrbar’s first official day as CEO will be January 26, 2026, and he will immediately begin engaging with staff, key stakeholders, and community partners as part of a strong onboarding and transition process.
