Eric Bjorkquist,  the regional properties director — aquatics at the Taylor Family YMCA, shares how adding a DynaDome structure to the aquatics space has enhanced the member experience at the YMCA.

Bjorkquist shares how the partnership with DynaDome first began, benefits for members and the Y, surprises along the way, advice for community rec leaders, and more.

Questions Asked

  • Why did you decide to partner with DynaDome? What problem were you looking to solve or what solution were you looking to incorporate?
  • What are the benefits to your organization as a result of this partnership?
  • What are the benefits to your members?
  • Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with DynaDome in any way?
  • What else can you tell other rec center professionals about the benefits of working with this company?

Summary of Partnership

  • The YMCA needed to replace an aging inflatable dome covering their pool, and DynaDome provided the most appropriate solution after COVID-19 disrupted their original building plans.
  • Key benefits from this change: Incredible flexibility, as the dome can open/close in 30 seconds, no service interruptions, better user comfort and experience, improved air quality and lighting, and the area feels more spacious than the previous inflatable structure.
  • Members love the new structure. They say it provides a feeling of an outdoor pool experience and a significantly better atmosphere compared to the previous inflatable dome.
  • Highlights of the partnership included DynaDome was easy to work with and provided very responsive customer service, it’s a low-maintenance product, and the process included a quick installation with only a couple of crane days needed.
  • Bjorkquist strongly encourages other community recreation leaders to consider DynaDome when looking to replace or build a new pool structure. His overall sentiment is extremely positive, with the YMCA finding the DynaDome solution better than their initial expectations in almost every aspect.
