Valley of the Sun JCC announced on Monday that Oded Kraus will be organization’s next CEO, effective October 6.

“Oded brings an outstanding record of leadership from Katz JCC in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where he helped lead a remarkable turnaround, expanded programming and doubled member engagement,” said Mallory Savan Lebovitz, the board chair of Valley of the Sun JCC, in a statement on social media. “We look forward to introducing Oded in person later this summer.”

Kraus replaces former CEO Jay Jacobs who is stepping down at the end of the year after nearly a decade of service to the community.

“This moment also gives us the opportunity to express our deepest thanks to Jay Jacobs,” said Lebovitz. “Jay’s legacy is visible in every corner of our J – from the expanded Alison Hendeles Early Childhood Center and new campus enhancements to the resilience he helped build during the pandemic. He has led with kindness, foresight and a passionate commitment to our mission and people.”

Kraus brings to the J more than a decade of dynamic leadership experience in Jewish communal life, education and business management. Known for his vision, energy, and people-first approach, Kraus is passionate about strengthening Jewish life, fostering meaningful connections and creating an inclusive community where individuals of all ages can grow and thrive.

Kraus holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management — both from Endicott College — blending business acumen with a deep commitment to service and excellence. His leadership is guided by empathy, collaboration and a drive to inspire innovation across every facet of the organization. Originally from Israel, Oded brings a global perspective and a lifelong dedication to Jewish values and identity. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and two young children, fishing, watching sports and exploring his passion for travel, having visited more than 40 countries around the world.
