Matrix Fitness announced an expanded integration with Upace, the member engagement platform trusted by YMCAs, JCCs, and Parks & Rec centers across North America.
Effective September 16, 2026, community rec members can connect their Matrix account to their home rec center’s Upace-powered mobile app and instantly see their Matrix workouts appear right inside it, with no extra logins and no separate screens to manage.
Once connected, members gain a dedicated Activity Log within their already familiar rec center app showing the equipment they used, their performance for each session, and the date of their workout.
Matrix workouts also now power in-app badges, challenges and rewards, giving every session a way to count for more. Members earn badges at key milestones and can take part in their center’s Member Challenges built around Matrix activity, including the Matrix Sprint 8 Challenge, a focused goal paired with a custom badge.
“At Matrix, our approach to technology is centered around creating meaningful experiences across the member journey in ways that just make sense. Making sure that our products connect seamlessly with a customer’s existing technology ecosystem is essential to forging strong partnerships with our customers,” said Matt McConley, the senior digital product manager for Johnson Health Tech/Matrix Fitness, in a press release. “This enhanced integration with Upace improves the user experience, reduces friction across member touchpoints and provides facilities with the interoperability needed to offer unique and personalized programming that resonates with members and reaches them where they are.”
Further Information
Upace partners with YMCAs, JCCs and Parks & Rec centers of every size, offering branded and fully custom mobile app options. The Upace platform helps these centers simplify reservations, personalize member experiences with real-time data, free up staff time, and unlock new revenue streams, all in service of expanding the communities they serve.
“For so many people, their community rec center is where they feel truly seen, whether that’s a trainer who knows their name or a class they never miss,” says Rachel Koretsky, the CEO and founder of Upace. “By bringing Matrix workout data directly into a center’s own app, we’re giving members one more way to feel that connection and celebrate their progress every time they show up, deepening their loyalty to the community they already call home.”
Upace is available throughout North America and currently is in English. The integration supports all Matrix connected consoles including the Matrix Touch, Touch XL, Premium LED, LED, Target Training, Intelligent Training and Virtual Training Cycle Consoles.
