The North Suburban YMCA (NSYMCA) announced its community summer events schedule for 2021, presenting a variety of safe events from drive-in movies and trivia nights, to workshops and virtual programming to keep the community healthy and engaged all summer long. Proceeds from the events will support the Y’s “Fortifying the Future” campaign.
“Our first concern is the safety of our community,” said Kathy Fielding, the CEO of NSYMCA in a statement. “That’s why we created a line-up of outdoor and virtual summer events that appeal to everyone in the family. This is going to be a summer beyond anything we’ve ever seen because our community is so excited to get outdoors.”
Kicking off the summer’s festivities on May 14, the Y will feature its first of three summer drive-in movies, “The Sandlot”. In 2020, with the Y’s parking lot filled to capacity for every movie, the drive-ins created an innovative way to enjoy family time during the pandemic.
NSYMCA Summer 2021 Activities Include:
- Drive-in movies
- Dance recitals, live and virtual
- Trivia nights under the tent
- “Community Strong” golf fundraiser and patio party
- “Community Strong” virtual fundraising week
- “Community Strong” fundraising dinner and event
- Seniorpalooza
Along with all special events offered this summer, the Y also has over 40 general and special interest day camps for children in pre-k through junior high school, swim programs for all ages, outdoor and indoor fitness classes, and virtual Y.E.S. programming, covering topics related to physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing.
