The CEO Search Committee and the Board of Directors at the Greater Burlington YMCA recently announced the selection of Daniel “Dan” Smith of Keene, New Hampshire, as incoming CEO, effective December 1.

According to a press release, Smith comes to the Y with 30 years of experience at nonprofit organizations, including two YMCA locations — one in Cadillac, Michigan, and most recently in Keene, New Hampshire. Prior to his Y career, Smith launched and led a shared camping and retreat ministry and worked for Habitat for Humanity International. That latter experience took him to Papua New Guinea and Fiji, where he met his wife, Maggie. His family is looking forward to their relocation to Burlington. They already have a connection to the area via his Rotuman wife, Maggie’s, connection with other Fijians and South Pacific Islanders that they often visited prior to accepting this CEO role.

The Search Committee and Board firmly believe Smith is the right leader to build upon the Y’s successful history of putting mission into practice and taking the Y to even greater levels of impact. They invite everyone in the community to find time to join them in gratitude to celebrate interim CEO Marsha Faryniarz’s legacy and warmly welcome Smith into the Greater Burlington YMCA family.

The CEO Search Committee included: Noma Anderson, Victoria Bennett, Renee Bourget-Place, Kelly Cornell and the YMCA Board of Directors.
