Facility of the Month: April 2020

The REC of Grapevine

Grapevine, Texas

Mission

The mission of the Grapevine Parks and Recreation department is to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Grapevine, through the stewardship of our natural resources and responsive provision of quality leisure opportunities.

Facilities

The “REC” in The REC of Grapevine stands for recreation, education and community. We truly see this facility as a multi-generational recreation center families can come enjoy, no matter the skill or ability. The REC of Grapevine facility includes more than 7,000 square feet of fitness rooms, which include weight machines, treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, elliptical machines, dumbbells, and regulation size basketball and racquetball courts.

Our facility has an amazing indoor children’s themed playground, 10 family changing rooms, and on-site child watch for members. The REC of Grapevine also offers personal training and a wide variety of group exercise classes, as well as classes and programs for preschool children through senior adults.

Highlights

The REC of Grapevine offers over 100 classes at any given time that cater to all ages and abilities. The REC offers lots of incredibly affordable annual passes for individuals and families to meet your needs for fun and fitness, whether you like staying dry, getting wet, going it alone or bringing the whole crew.

The Active Adults’ programming ranges from ceramics and arts to chair exercises to license to carry classes — not to mention tons of field trips and events. The REC of Grapevine is also home to our adaptive recreation program: Club All-Access. This program is geared toward adults with adaptive needs who are interested in engaging with and creating a community of their peers.

Fun Facts

  • The REC of Grapevine celebrates its fifth birthday in late April!
  • Santa comes to visit each year and celebrates with the REC community.
  • The REC of Grapevine has a REC Express shuttle service, driven by volunteers, that helps get members from the large parking lot right to the front doors.
