The VacDaddy’s powerful portable pool vacuum system provides an efficient cleaning solution for rec center professionals.

Companies in the pool service industry have always been looking for ways to improve efficiency and cut costs with less work, particularly when it comes to vacuuming debris.

There are many methods of vacuuming, including light-weight battery units which have limited suction and battery life. Heavy pump and cartridge filter systems feature greater power, but are bulky and require too much space and time hauling equipment. However, no options were available on the market that combined the best of both cleaning systems — powerful and lightweight.

Until now. The VacDaddy portable vacuum cleaner fulfills that gap.

“We’re building The VacDaddy into an international-leading vacuum system company,” said Matthew D’Aguanno, the president and managing member of The VacDaddy. “While it’s strong and powerful enough to meet the needs of the pool service professional, it’s also simple and easy to use. It’s a perfect tool for any homeowner. You can even send the kids out to clean the pool. It’s just that easy.”

D’Aguanno initially got started in the aquatics industry to help pay for college. After graduating, he knew he wanted to run his own business. So, he started CPC Pools in 1990 as a sole proprietor. Over the years, the company grew to service over 450 pools a week on the north shore of Long Island, New York.

“CPC Pools still keeps me busy full-time as a pool service company,” said D’Aguanno. “The VacDaddy is a whole different challenge. Engineering, manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, R&D, national and international sales, promotions, trade shows, meeting pros across the country, and learning the different challenges in regional markets is exciting. It’s been an incredible learning experience which has helped us make The VacDaddy even better.”

Those years of hard work led The VacDaddy to where it is today — a growing startup company extremely focused on providing the highest level of customer service possible.

“We must simply ensure our customers come first,” said D’Aguanno. “If warranty issues arise, we jump to the task and get things handled and get our customers back to work ASAP. That part is key to our success.”

Also important to the ongoing growth of the company is the cleaner itself. While other vacuums on the market provide powerful systems ideal for commercial use, they’re often heavy and bulky and require too much setup and training. That’s not the case with The VacDaddy.

The VacDaddy is lightweight but still retains the power of larger apparatuses. Also, there are no batteries which die or lose charge quickly, and no heavy pumps, filters, carts or trailer hitches to haul from job to job.

“The VacDaddy combines all the best features from all the competition and truly is the answer to so many questions,” said D’Aguanno. “We’re the only portable vacuum system on the market which allows you to vacuum the pool to waste, thereby getting algae, silt, dust, dirt, mud, muck and other fine debris out without clogging up the customer’s filtration system. At 3,600 gallons per hour, it’s an amazing sump pump. And don’t forget, we recently developed an adapter allowing The VacDaddy to vaccum in shallow waters as little as eight inches deep.

Also, the vacuum comes with several different accessories, making The VacDaddy a more versatile product. These accessories are sold in three different bundles.

First is the Basic Bundle including the Vacuum to Waste Kit, Aluminum Adapter Pole and Vac Head Handle. Next, the Pro Bundle adds on the Gunite Vacuum Head by Ocean Blue, the remote on/off switch and The VacCaddy Carry Bag. Lastly, the Deluxe Bundle takes all the above and adds spare wearable parts at a discounted price.

“Any of these bundles work well for rec centers, but the Pro and Deluxe provide that handy VacCaddy which allows you to store all equipment easily,” said D’Aguanno.

All these factors make the unique vacuum ideal for community rec professionals. Specifically, The VacDaddy is easy for all staff to use while also eliminating any concerns with opening and closing valves or priming pumps.

“Have your lifeguards, maintenance leader or even your pro pool cleaner pull The VacDaddy out of storage, plug it in and within minutes the pool is done,” said D’Aguanno. “There’s no training, mess, aching back or frustrated employees. It truly will change the way your staff thinks about cleaning the pool.”

In fact, D’Aguanno said community rec centers and nonprofits are the ideal customers for The VacDaddy because of a central tenet of the company — taking care of and retaining employees.

“The fact that we combine the heavy-duty strength and suction of the more expensive, commercial vacuums with lightweight simplicity makes anyone feel like a pool pro,” said D’Aguanno. “Lifeguards and maintenance leaders have more important tasks to attend to. So, let’s make this part of the job easy and efficient so they can get back to taking care of your members and guests.”

This improved productivity assists in solving employee retention issues currently plaguing the community rec industry. Pool maintenance isn’t usually seen as a glamorous part of the job. However, The VacDaddy makes cleaning more fun, faster and easier for staff.

Plus, with happier employees comes better word-of-mouth about your center’s operations, making it easier to hire and retain good employees.

“In these facilities, there are a lot of people in the pool and they leave lots of debris,” said D’Aguanno. “With The VacDaddy, a large pool can be cleaned in only a few minutes by staff. We make it easy to help keep employees efficient.”

Moving forward, D’Aguanno said the company is now promoting The VacDaddy 2.0 which features multiple improvements in power, operation, size of filter bags and other accessories. Also, promising new ideas are in the works like a more compact version — VacDaddy Jr. — an underwater electric brush, new vacuum head and new diffuser cap.

In the meantime, D’Aguanno and his team remain committed in doing whatever it takes to support community rec professionals across the industry, one VacDaddy at a time.
