The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South named Brian McLaughlin, the former COO of the Y, its new president and CEO on August 20.

McLaughlin succeeds former CEO Jerry Martin, who retired after 44 years of dedicated service to the YMCA. McLaughlin brings 27 years of YMCA leadership experience to the role, including 11 years at the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South.

“I’m honored and humbled to step into this role at such a significant moment in the YMCA’s history,” McLaughlin said in a press release. “I look forward to working with our board, staff and community partners to continue the Y’s powerful legacy of building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.”

Hope Sneed, the Y’s board chair, praised McLaughlin’s impact on the organization, noting his role in expanding services and programs.

“Brian has been instrumental in the success of our organization,” Sneed said. “The board is confident that his leadership, strategic thinking and passion for our mission make him the ideal choice to lead our association into the future.”
