Building Aquatics Facilities for Longevity: A 25-Year Partnership Between Paddock Pool Equipment Company and Baruzzini Aquatics

A successful aquatics facility lasts long beyond the first day the water is open for swimming. For Baruzzini Aquatics, ensuring quality aquatics experiences has meant developing long-term relationships with manufacturers that can help solve complex design challenges, provide consistent support and keep lifecycle considerations at the center of each project.

This approach led to a partnership with Paddock Pool Equipment Company spanning over 25 years and dozens of projects. What began with a need to address complex perimeter overflow system design challenges evolved into a collaborative relationship built around design support, reliability and long-term facility performance.

“Paddock has been the leader in the aquatics industry for stainless perimeter overflow systems, moveable bulkheads and filtration technology,” said Tony Baruzzini, the project estimator and co-owner of Baruzzini Aquatics. “Our relationship developed out of a need to solve complex perimeter overflow system design challenges.”

Daniel Gaeckle, a Midwest sales executive at Paddock, said the length of the partnership allows the companies to approach each project with an established level of trust and communication while working toward the same goal: helping create aquatics facilities that serve their communities well long term.

“Paddock and Baruzzini Aquatics have worked together for many years, building a relationship founded on trust, mutual respect and open communication,” said Gaeckle. “That long history allows us to collaborate efficiently and honestly, ensuring we provide the right products and solutions for each unique application.”

Supporting the Builder From Design Through Manufacturing

The partnership between Paddock and Baruzzini Aquatics showcases how collaboration between manufacturers and builders can extend beyond product selections.

“At Paddock, we see ourselves as an extension of the builder’s team rather than simply a supplier,” said Gaeckle. “We work closely throughout the design, engineering, and manufacturing process to ensure every project receives the right solution for its specific needs.”

For Baruzzini Aquatics, that approach has produced several benefits, including reliability, design support, consistency in workmanship and opportunities to become involved earlier in project development.

For community rec leaders, the partnership demonstrates the value of building strong relationships with project partners before construction begins. Early collaboration can give project teams more opportunities to address design considerations, evaluate long-term implications and establish expectations before work moves into construction.

Making Longevity Part of the Decision

Rather than treating durability as a secondary consideration, Baruzzini said his company views it as part of responsible facility planning.

“Product longevity and lifecycle costs are driving factors in all business development discussions,” explained Baruzzini. “We believe that longevity and life cycle cost are important not just to an individually successful project but also a stewardship responsibility for the industry in general. Paddock shares these values.”

That philosophy can be especially important for community rec organizations, where capital investments are expected to serve residents for many years. Looking beyond initial costs can help decision-makers consider how design and equipment choices may affect maintenance and operating needs throughout a facility’s life.

Paddock’s role in that process involves working alongside builders to address those considerations during project development.

“Open communication and decades of industry experience allow us to help builders deliver aquatics facilities that are built to last while minimizing future maintenance concerns and lifecycle costs,” said Gaeckle.

A Model for Long-Term Community Impact

The partnership between Paddock and Baruzzini Aquatics ultimately illustrates a broader consideration for community rec leaders: aquatics projects require decisions that can influence a facility long after construction is complete.

As aquatics facilities become more complex and organizations place greater emphasis on long-term value, Gaeckle said collaboration between manufacturers and builders is increasingly important.

“Strong partnerships like the one Paddock has with Baruzzini Aquatics help ensure products are selected and engineered correctly from the beginning, resulting in facilities that are durable, reliable and easier to maintain for years to come,” said Gaeckle.

Baruzzini’s advice to community rex facilities planning a new pool or major renovation reflects that same emphasis on long-term performance.

“For our climate in Michigan, we don’t feel there is a better pool construction method than a cast-in-place pool structure with a properly installed stainless perimeter overflow system from Paddock,” explained Baruzzini. “If installed correctly, these pools become a multi-generational amenity for any community.”

The takeaway for community rec leaders is broader than any individual pool system. Long-term facility performance starts with the decisions and relationships established during planning and design. A collaborative approach between owners, builders and manufacturers can help teams address complex challenges early while keeping durability, maintenance and lifecycle value in focus.

After more than 25 years and dozens of projects together, Paddock and Baruzzini Aquatics demonstrate how that kind of sustained partnership can support the development of aquatics facilities intended to remain community assets for generations.
