In the newest Expert Q&A, editor John Reecer is joined by Susan Berman, associate executive director, community engagement, and Nathalia Melo, community needs bank coordinator, from Sid Jacobson JCC to chat about the J’s community philanthropy during the holiday season. Specifically, the duo details how their Retail Rescue initiative is assisting needy individuals. They also participate in a rapid-fire Q&A portion for you to get to know them better.

Expert Q&A with Susan Berman and Nathalia Melo Questions

1. Describe the difference that Retail Rescue makes in the community during the holidays.

2. Talk about the importance and work of Island Harvest to make this initiative possible.

3. What main advice/tips would you give other rec centers when it comes to community outreach during the holidays?

In addition to the topic questions, there is a rapid-fire Q&A portion for you to get to know them better. They try to get through as many questions as possible. Questions include:

  • What’s your favorite movie?
  • Which do you prefer, dogs or cats?
  • What do you like most about the community rec industry?
  • And so on…
