The North Carolina Alliance of YMCAs announced Kim Grooms has been named the new CEO of the Alamance County Community YMCA in Burlington, North Carolina, effective September 14.
Grooms brings more than 35 years of YMCA leadership experience and currently serves as COO of the Alamance County Community YMCA. During her tenure, she has helped the Y surpass $1 million in annual program revenue, grow its annual campaign from $34,000 to $116,000, and secure more than $750,000 in state and local grant funding.
A longtime YMCA leader and dedicated community partner, Grooms has also served in leadership roles with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA and YMCA of the Triangle.
“My YMCA journey began 37 years ago, and throughout those years, the Y has been far more than a career,” said Grooms in a statement on social media. “It has been the place where I discovered my purpose, grew as a leader, built lifelong relationships, and witnessed the extraordinary things that happen when people come together around a shared mission. I’ve always believed relationships are at the heart of strong organizations and strong communities. As CEO, I look forward to continuing to build meaningful connections with our staff, members, volunteers, donors, partners, and neighbors throughout Alamance County.”
Grooms added that her focus will be on strengthening the organization, investing in its people, expanding community impact, and working alongside the board and community partners to shape the next chapter of the Alamance County Community YMCA.
