The board of directors of the California State Alliance of YMCAs announced Kris Lev-Twombly, the president and CEO, informed the board of his decision to step down from his role following 12 years of dedicated service to the Alliance and California’s YMCA movement to pursue another executive leadership opportunity.
Since joining the Alliance in 2014, Lev-Twombly has provided thoughtful leadership during a period of significant change and opportunity. Under his leadership, the Alliance strengthened its role as a statewide advocate for California YMCAs, expanded collaborative initiatives, and helped elevate the voice of the YMCA movement on issues affecting children, families and communities throughout the state.
“Kris has served the California YMCA Movement with integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment,” said Vince Iuculano, the chair of the board of directors, in a press release. “On behalf of the board and our member YMCAs, we’re grateful for his many contributions and the lasting impact he has made on the Alliance and the communities we collectively serve.”
Lev-Twombly recently accepted another leadership opportunity and will assist the Alliance in ensuring a smooth transition. The chairman has appointed Dan Crocker, the current director of association resources, as the interim CEO. Over the coming months, the board will go through the process of selecting its next CEO.
Reflecting on his tenure, Lev-Twombly shared his appreciation for the opportunity to serve California’s YMCAs and the many leaders, staff, volunteers and partners who have advanced the YMCA mission across the state.
The board has accepted Lev-Twombly’s resignation and will work closely with him during the transition period to ensure continuity of leadership and operations.The Alliance remains well-positioned to continue advancing its mission and serving California’s YMCA movement. The board extends its sincere gratitude to Lev-Twombly for his years of service and wishes him every success in his next chapter of leadership.
