The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg has announced Trey Oakley will be the association’s next CEO.

With more than 15 years of YMCA executive leadership experience, Oakley has dedicated his career to strengthening communities, expanding opportunities for youth and families, and building partnerships that create lasting impact. He previously spent the last decade leading the YMCA of the High Country located in western North Carolina.

“During my time at the YMCA of the High Country, I had the privilege of leading our organization from a single branch into a multi-branch association serving Avery and Mitchell Counties; developing new facilities, expanding youth development and wellness programming, deepening community partnerships, and guiding our team through the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Helene,” said Oakley in a statement on social media. “None of those accomplishments belong to one person. They belong to this remarkable community, our incredible staff, dedicated board and generous donors. I’m deeply grateful for my time and experience here and the lasting relationships I’ve built along the way. My family and I are excited for this next chapter in Spartanburg, but a part of our hearts will always remain in the High Country. Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible.

As Oakley joins the YMCA the first week of August, the Y said in a statement the team looks forward to the vision and leadership he’ll bring as the organization continues to strengthen communities throughout Spartanburg and Polk counties in South Carolina.
